Despite having electricity poles fixed and complete wiring in place for over five years, residents of some parts of Nyaribari Chache Constituency are yet to be connected with electricity.
On Saturday, the Parliamentary Committee on Power, confirmed that some parts of Nyaribari Chache constituency had been fixed with the relevant materials but were yet to be powered up.
According to area MP Richard Tong'i, electricity transformers that were put at some of those parts have not commissioned to supply electricity.
This has come after the MP and his residents raised their complains that, they were missing out on electricity despite electricity wires and posts having been fully put in place.
These prompted the committee to come and make their survey over the same and confirmed the lack of electricity supply.
Some of the committee members who came to make the survey were Mwingi Central MP, Joe Mutambu , Bonchari MP, Zebedeo Opore, Nyaribari Chache MP Richard Tong'i among others.
"The report thae parliamentary committee had earlier received indicates that all parts in Nyaribari Chache Constituency are fully connected with electricity but the committee has now confirmed that the report is not accurate," said Tong'i.
Mutambu assured Gusii region residents as a whole that soon they would be connected with electricity.
“We came to the ground to see whether all parts of this constituency are fully connected with electricity according to the report we have, but we have realised that some of the electricity transformers have not been commissioned to supply electricity in Nyaribari Chache constituency,” said the Mwingi Central MP.
He revealed that the committee was going to survey all parts of the country over last mile connectivity project saying the national government intended to have every Kenyan connected with electricity at a cost of Sh15, 000.
“If any Kenyan has no cash of Sh15, 000 to pay for electricity connection, Last Mile Project will connect you with electricity then you pay the deficit every month,” he added.
