The spirit of togetherness manifested itself in Nyabiosi Secondary School in Kitutu Masaba after area politicians and local residents joined hands to contribute over Sh2 million towards the construction of modern dormitories.
The institution has been among the top performing schools in Nyamira County managing a mean grade of 7.14 in 2014 KCSE exams occasioning parents to immediately have a plan of changing it to a boarding school.
On Tuesday, area community and politicians vowed to support the institution by constructing the dormitory in a bid to ensure students stayed in school for extra lessons at night.
“This is purely a community issue. We have lobbied our politicians and other well-wishers to bring their contributions here and I think they have done a wonderful job. What is important though, by next year we will have most of our students operating from the institution’s premises,” said Chairman Kefa Matara.
Politicians led by area MCA, Ken Atuti challenged CDF committee to allocate funds towards the project due to high number of intake in the institution.
“The intake is a bit high and that is why we need more support from our CDF kitty. This will be a massive boost to the performance of this institution,” he said.
The community and the school administration set a mean of 9.0 in this year’s KCSE and vowed to do all within their reach to ensure it is achieved.
