A section of leaders from Nyamira County have asked area Members of Parliament to focus on improving the lives of residents  rather than engaging in political rhetoric.

Led by Gesima Member of County Assembly, Ken Atuti, the leaders claimed the five MPs from the region of were secluding elected leaders in their development plan besides questioning their motives of constantly challenging the county government.

According to them, the county government was unnecessarily being tasked on areas that are under the jurisdiction of the MPs.

“I am not convinced with the delivery on promises by our MPs. All I here is them criticising the county government yet they have a lot of resources from the national government that they can use to improve the livelihoods of our people,” Atuti said at Machuririati region on Friday.

Aspiring area MCA Charles Maroko challenged the legislatures to come open before criticising the county government over alleged corruption. “I am not promoting corruption in the county but it is essential if our MPs explain their development record especially regarding education standards before meddling with county governments. Some of them do not award bursaries to needy children,” he claimed.

The debate is likely to elicit heated argument between the two entities.
