Pupils of Olympic Primary School were on Monday left stranded after the institution remained closed despite a directive by the Ministry of Education that schools reopen.
When this writer visited the school, there was a padlock on the classrooms doors and the few pupils who had reported were in a dilemma.
The strike has paralysed learning in public school as teachers demand the 50-60 per cent salary hike awarded to them by the courts.
Among the pupils interviewed, most of them candidates said they are not ready to sit their national examinations.
However, the ministry has reiterated that national examinations will go on as scheduled, adding that the national examinations calendar has not been reviewed by the ministry.
According to Kevin Onyango, a pupil at the school, they have been revising on their own and now need guidance from their teachers.
