Kisii Governor James Ongwae on Sunday told off his critics who he said engaged in politicking instead of joining the county government in delivering services to residents.

Ongwae said 2017 was still far and called on his political opponents to stop campaigning and instead join him in developing the county.

“Sometime I am appalled by accusations I get from some leaders," Ongwae said.

"Most of them are against development and when I invite them for a dialogue, they dishonor my meetings and go spreading propaganda about my leadership in other areas. They should be ignored completely since they are not ready to contribute towards development."

He was speaking at Marani on Sunday at a consultative meeting with a section of leaders in the county.

“The issue of 2017 should not emerge at this stage since we have a long way to go," Ongwae added.

"Our leaders should concentrate on working rather than putting us on a political mood. However, I do not fear competition and I am ready to defend my seat."

He said his government would be inclusive.

He told MPs from Kisii County join him in working towards uplifting the living standards of the people in Kisii.
