Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has said that the Daraja moja–Nyamataro road and the Daraja moja–Nyamira roads should be constructed by national government.
This comes after constant complaints by area residents over the poor states of the two roads while demanding action from the Kisii County government.
Since devolution started several residents say that it has seen to be difficult for them to know which government between the county and national governments should construct various roads.
Addressing journalists at Kisii town on Sunday Ongwae noted that his government would wish to construct the roads said to be impassable but stressed that the responsibility belonged to national government.
Ongwae asked Kisii residents to be patient and a wait for national government to repair the roads saying that his government had no authority to do so.
“The authority to construct these roads belong to the national government and can’t be constructed by my county government. There are some interior roads which we can construct and some in Kisii town," he said.
He said that by the end of August this year a report will be released showing all roads that are under the authority of both governments.
