Yatta Sub-County Commissioner James Nyangicho has launched a registration process where more than 500 children are set to be registered.

Speaking in his office on Thursday, Nyangicho said mothers will get a notification card that will enable them secure a birth certificate for their children at a future date from the birth registration offices.

The commissioner said only those who have never been registered before and are aged between 0-17 will benefit from the process.

“We are registering kids who have never been registered before, be it in hospitals or at the assistant chiefs’ offices. There is no exception in this process. Parents should come to the centre and register their children,” said Nyangicho.

He said that parents can now register at the assistants’ chief offices within their respective locations to ease the congestion at his office.

He added that those above 18 years of age will also get a notification card that will enable them get birth certificates and later apply for their identification cards.

The two-day registration process is set to ease the process of accessing government services in the Machakos County government.
