Parents in Kisii County have been urged and advised to watch their children during El Nino rains expected to rock the country from October.

Some parents have been criticised for not taking the threats seriously.

Speaking on Tuesday at Mwembe Estate, the county's Community Clinical Officer Mr Kepha King’oina challenged parents to make sure that their children are well protected during the rainy season to prevent loss of lives.

He also advised them to coordinate with teachers to know the time their children are out from school whether it has started raining or not for the safety of the children.

“Parents are advised to take extra care of their children during El Nino season by ensure their safety,” said King'oina.

Boda boda riders have also been advised to take care of their customers, especially when carrying children to and from school when it is raining and avoid carrying excess passengers.

“Boda boda riders are advised to take care of their customers, especially carrying children to and from school for their safety,” added Kingo’ina.
