Kiambu police boss has raised the alarm over the increased number of police imposters in the region.
Speaking in his office on Friday, OCPD Stephen Ng'etich said residents had in the recent past been conned of their money by people posing as police officers.
He said motorists are the most affected as the criminals claim to be traffic police officers.
Ng’etich said over seven cases have been reported in the past three weeks.
He cited Kirigiti, Ndumberi, Njonu and at the bypass along Kiambu road as the areas prone to the crime.
He urged residents to be on the lookout and not to give any money to anyone in the name of bribing them.
He said some residents encourage the criminals by accepting to give them money.
Ng'etich said the criminals are said to be operating early in the morning and at night, and they mostly have wear fake police uniforms.
He said residents and motorists should report to the nearest station whenever they encounter such people.
"These imposters are portraying a very bad image to the police department. We are going to ensure they all come to book. We also urge the public to join us in this fight," said Ng'etich.
