Police in Nakuru Town are holding a suspect in connection with stolen defense equipment. Joseph Mwaura was arrested on Thursday by Nakuru police officers with support from the Flying Squad at Mereroni, Lanet Ward, Bahati Sub County, Nakuru County after the police received a tip -off from members of the public .
Confirming the incident Nakuru OCS, James Kelly said they raided the suspect’s premises and recovered stolen military equipments .
“We raided the suspect’s house, searched the house and found military equipment," said Kelly .
He said that the police offices arrested the suspect and will arraign him to court once investigations are complete," said Kelly. Kelly said among the equipments recovered are generators, military informs and assorted ammunitions.
Kelly said that police have started investigation to know the motive behind the disappearance of the defence equipments from Lanet Military Camp .
“We have started to piece together information and evidence to know how the military equipments found their way to the suspect's house and who are behind the syndicate," said Kelly.
Kelly said that the security agencies will not put the military intelligence at risk and they would do every thing to safeguard it. He also thanked the members of public who provided the vital information and urged them to continue supporting the government in enhancing security .
