Migosi MCA Paul Achayo has hit out at police in Kisumu for the rising insecurity in the town.
Speaking at the county assembly yesterday on Tuesday during a special committee meeting, Achayo said police no longer even conduct patrols at night as they used to.
Achayo petitioned the County Assembly to task the County Police Commander Joseph Limo to give answers as to why the patrols exercise had stopped, adding there had not been police presence in Migosi area in the past few weeks.
"I am appealing to the House to help me seek answers from the County Police Commander as to why the police patrols in Migosi were stopped. Police have a duty to protect residents and their property," said Achayo.
Wawidhi North MCA Moses Ochele said although police had allegedly stopped night patrols, cases of crime have continued to rise in the town.
"Something has to be done about this," he said.
Deputy Speaker Pamela Jossi promised to have the matter looked into.
