Maseno University administration has assured students of improved security two weeks into the new semester.
Addressing the students on Monday, Deputy Vice Chancellor Mary Kipsat said that the university administration is going to put down strategies to curb cases of insecurity that have been witnessed in the recent past.
Kipsat said that street lights are going to be put up at strategic places University to help non-resident students in their movements at night.
"The university will also liaise with the Kenya Police to do patrols at night in order to ensure hooligans who roam around waiting to attack students are eliminated," he said.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor also added that the varsity will procure a new ambulance to serve the student population of about 14,000 which is currently being served by one.
However, the students have been advised against walking around past midnight to ensure to minimise their likelihood of insecurity incidents.
Kipsat appealed to students to bear with the institution regarding inadequate accommodation, saying that that the whole country was from suffering inadequate facilities.
"Teachers are on strike demanding more pay, nurses want money and even us lecturers want money, it is not enough. Therefore the whole country is suffering and not only Maseno," she said.
