Mageri Primary School in Bomwagamo Ward, Nyamira County is seeking aid to construct a standard eight classroom that was destroyed by the wind in August.
The school head teacher Panam Nyakamba said the roof and one section of the classroom's wall were destroyed by the wind over a month ago.
He said the classroom was built in the colonial era and hadn't undergone much renovation over the years.
"The roof was swept away one month ago due to strong winds and we suspect it might have been built using substandard materials," Nyakamba said.
Nyakamba further says that the school's management had tried to solicit funds from the constituency development fund kitty through North Mugirango MP Charles Geni but they haven't yet succeeded.
"We have now been forced to seek aid from well wishers who can help us with funds to construct this classroom afresh," Said Nyakamba.
Nyakamba says the school needs to raise Sh500,000 for the reconstruction of the classroom.
"I humbly urge well wishers to help the school raise Sh500,000 in aid of construction of the class so that when pupils return back to school they will find shelter," he added.
