Residents of Chiponde in Molo Sub-county on Saturday had something to smile about after the area MP Jacob Macharia launched a water project.

Macharia said that the community project was funded by the Molo Constituency Development Fund (CDF) and would address the water shortage being experienced in the areas.

“We are optimistic that the water project will address the biting shortage of water in Chiponde area," said Macharia.

The legislator said through the CDF more areas will get pipped water to enable residents access clean water.

“The Molo CDF has lined other water projects in Molo Constituency to ensure residents have affordable and clean water," said Macharia.

He called the beneficiaries of the project to utilise the commodity wisely and to share it equally.

The lawmaker also said they are working to protect Nguso Springs in Molo constituency to ensure availability of clean water for household use.

“The revamping of Nguso Springs in Molo Forest is being undertaken to ensure there is enough water to all Molo residents," said Macharia.

He however warned against illegal felling of trees in Molo Forest, saying the trend may limit availability of clean water.

“Molo Forest should be guarded against logging that may jeopardise the lives of Molo residents," said Macharia.

He further urged Molo residents to plant more tress during rainy seasons to conserve Molo water catchment areas.
