Residents of Witeithie Ward have this morning stormed the area MCA’s office in protest over what they term as embezzlement of public funds.
The protestors allege that they were promised a secondary school, a hospital and piped water, but, the promises have always been used to ‘seduce’ them.
“These people are always here calming us when we protest. We are tired and we want this office demolished because we don’t have leaders in Witeithie,” one resident said.
An attempt by area Chief James Nyoike and AP boss Sergeant David Kamau to calm the irate residents bore no fruits as the protestors threw stones at them. The protesters vowed to attack the police post if the police continued calming them.
Led by the bodaboda chairman, Joel Mungai, the residents said that Witeithie, being the largest ward in Kiambu County, has no hospital nor a school despite producing huge sums of revenue for the county government.
Mungai added that they have been demonstrating and the county government playfully accuses the National government of reluctance even on issues that the county government is mandated to address.
The residents have vowed to demolish the office if the MCA, Peter Muiruri, does not address them as they wait for the MP Francis Munyua who has confirmed that he will address the residents in an hour.
