Kisii county through the ministry of health in partnership with non governmental organizations has started teaching residents on how manage diabetes.

Speaking on Friday at Ufanisi resort where more than 60 children affected with diabetes accompanied by their parents for the sensitization exercise, Kisii county Director, Dr Geoffrey Ontomu said that they have partnered with some of the non governmental organizations to make sure that affected residents have adequate knowledge on how to manage the disease.

Doctor Ontomu said that most people in the society believe that being diabetic is the end of live but he encouraged the members to visit the hospital so that if they are diagnosed they can seek treatment.

“It is unfortunately that our people believe that diabetic is a deadly disease but it is not when well managed ,so it is our key role to empower this knowledge to our people to know how to manage it,”said Doctor Ontomu

He also added that the ministry of health has put in place such programs to make sure that the community is well informed about how to manage the disease.
