Rosemary Odinga, the daughter to Cord leader Raila Odinga has clarified the motive behind her initiative to mobilise Kibera constituents to obtain national identification cards.

Addressing the media at Kibera social grounds on Thursday during the launch of Safi E-cooker, she said the ID drive aims at ensuring young people get recognised as citizens as well as get integrated into the Kenyan system.

"My ID drive is an initiative to make sure that young people are integrated into the system," she said.

"Without IDs, they cannot get jobs, driving licences, and many other services. This is why we started this in Kibera in order for them to participate and become true Kenyans."

She added that the initiative is driven by collaboration with the national government.

"We are working together with the Registrars office and we agreed on starting the registration in Kibera," she added.

Rosemary urged Kibera residents to turn out in large numbers during the second face of mobile ID cards registration that is set to be launched soon.

"Very soon we are coming back to Kibera and start the drive again," she said.

"So I want people to get ready, those who do not have the IDs to come out in large numbers so that they can be able to participate and become true Kenyans."
