Kisumu County boda boda operators have hailed a move by the World Vision to help them form savings and credit cooperatives.

The county’s World Vision boda boda youth leader Tobias Kinani said on Wednesday the saccos had positively impacted their lives by inculcating into them a saving culture.

Through this, added the youth leader, they are able to start viable ventures to supplement their meager incomes.

Speaking to Hivisasa at the World Vision offices, Kinani urged his colleagues who are yet to join saccos to do so as they stand to benefit a lot.

He now wants more seminars organised to sensitise more local groups into joining saccos.

“We boda boda operators need to be role models to society. When other people, especially youths see our living standards improving they will be persuaded to join saccos,” said Kinani.

A colleague, James Mogaka challenged other groups to form saccos stating that they will help members save for the future and also initiate ventures that will boost their incomes.
