The consolidation of the cases of suspects alleged to have been involved in the Sh70 million robbery along Nakuru-Eldoret high way is set for Tuesday.

The case has so far seen eleven suspects arraigned before a Nakuru court including a 70-year-old Wanjiru Ndutire, her daughter-in-law and a police officer.

Another suspect, Godfrey Kipkosgei on Monday pleaded not guilty before Senior Principle magistrate, Liz Gicheha and was released on a surety bond of Sh1 million or an alternative cash bail of Sh300,000.

On July 28, a Traffic officer, Peter Gachie was arrested and charged in court after he was linked to the same highway theft which occurred at Salgaa area.

Gachie who pleaded not guilty was charged with robbery with violence after he allegedly robbed the said goods from businessman Titus Kiplagat while armed with a pistol.

According to police, the suspects with others all in traffic police uniform at 6.45pm stopped the lorry, accused the complainant of speeding before ordering the occupants into another car and drove them off to unknown place where the cargo was offloaded into another vehicle.

Some of the assorted goods worth Sh400,000 were recovered at Syokimau in Nairobi and suspects charged, while a lorry carrying mobile phones was also recovered.

Lawyer Steve Kabita who is watching a brief on behalf of the complainants wants the recovered goods and the lorry to be return to their owner since until now there is no other complainant who has come to court.

The court said that the applications will be heard on Tuesday. A motion to consolidate is a motion which seeks to combine two cases into one proceeding.
