A Seventh Day Adventist Church Pastor Charles Kibari has linked poor eating habits among Kenyans to the high cancer-related ailments in Gusii region and the country.
Kibari said eating junk food and other lifestyle foods alongside alcoholic drinks in most cases contribute to lifestyle diseases such as cancer.
Speaking at Riakemuma village in Sameta Sub-County, on Friday during a home church prayer meeting, Kibari warned residents against eating lifestyle foods which he stated contribute to cancer-related diseases not only in the country but also across the world.
The religious leader also challenged residents to embrace routine cancer screening to allow for early detection and treatment of various cancer diseases which he regretted had become a major threat to human life.
"I am encouraging everybody to embrace routine and periodical cancer screening to ensure they know their statuses and if found to have contracted the disease, seek immediate medical attention before it is late to treat it," advised the pastor.
Kibari tipped local communities on the importance of embracing natural cures through eating of fruits and traditional foods as opposed to red meat and other foods whose excessive consumption exposes them to risks of getting cancer.
