A section of elders and professionals from Seme Sub-County want Kisumu County government dissolved for discrimination, bias and lack of inclusive representation.

They claimed that the staff from Seme are unfairly targeted and victimised by Governor Jack Ranguma’s administration.

Speaking to the press on Wednesday at Museum View hotel, they threatened to move to court to have the county dissolved.

Seme Community Association led by former Seme parliamentary aspirant Victor Nyagaya said residents are being hounded out of the county government.

They also threatened to secede to Siaya County if their grievances were not properly addressed by governor Ranguma.

They protested against unfair distribution of resources including county appointments saying that particular areas were benefiting more than other sub-counties.

“Ranguma sits in a cabinet of ten executives, which is the highest decision making point, but it has no representation of Seme. We voted for him like other sub-counties,” Nyagaya said.

Nyagaya urged Ranguma to consider overhauling his cabinet to enable them be part of the government.

He said Ranguma, Erick Odinda, Chief officers Samuel Ondola (Infrastructure Development and Roads), Dereck Obura (Lands and Housing), Dr Ojwang Lusi (Health), Dr Jackton Jalang’o (Agriculture) are all from Kadibo.

“This county is not about Kadibo, this county is about Kisumu and we are going to hold a demonstration to present our grievances,’’ he said.

He added “We are scared that soon we won’t even have a sweeper at the county government.”

Some of the officers they say were removed were hounded out of office are embattled Kisumu Speaker Anne Adul and Head of supply chain management Elvina Osodo.

Nyagaya said Adul was unceremoniously removed from office by MCAs with the blessings of Ranguma.

"Osodo was suspended over alleged impropriety yet the chief officers who are the accounting officers and hail from Kadibo with Ranguma are unaffected," he said.

Nyagaya also named Moses Ogeda and Dan Oketch as other employees who have also allegedly been victimised over alleged impropriety.

He said that Director of Administration Haggai Khadiri has been stripped off of all his responsibility by the governor leaving him as a puppet officer.

“First the former majority leader Samuel Ong’ow and hired goons forcefully attempted to physically remove Khadiri from office. Ranguma never provided security for him,” Nyagaya said.

County director of communication Zachary Ochieng said the governor was away and is in a better position to react on matter.
