Nominated Senator Martha Wangari has called on politicians from Nakuru County to put politics on hold until 2017 and instead work on improving the living standards of residents.

“Politicians have a role to ensure the electorate gets good services since they were put into office to serve the residents,” Wangari said.

The Senator said politics of backwardness that threaten development should not be entertained in the county.

“Politics which have no value should not be allowed to carry the day as this will derail development,” said Wangari.

Speaking on Wednesday in Gilgil town during a development tour, the nominated senator urged politicians to wait until 2017 to start campaigning.

“We are now concerned with development issues and how to help residents improve their lives,” she said.

She also urged elected leaders to commit themselves in improving the quality of lives of Nakuru residents through launching income generating projects.

She thanked the county government for channeling Sh25 million to each ward saying the initiative will go a long way in uplifting residents’ welfare.

She further urged the county government to prioritise infrastructure to ensure residents have a chance to accelerate economic growth.
