Soy MP Edwin Barchilei has asked youths in the constituency to shun politicians and selfish individuals who might want to use them to disrupt peace.

Speaking at Soy shopping center  where he met youths on Sunday, the MP further told youths to be wary of individuals who want to use them in the wrong ways.

Barchilei instead asked youths in the county to work with leaders who are willing to change their lives through initiation of development projects.

“It is evident that some politicians are using young people to cause violence and disrupt peace,” he said.

The MP said that some politicians are taking advantage of the youth unemployment to misuse them.

"The time when politicians easily used youths to cause violence is long gone," he said.

He said that violence would never offer solutions to the problems facing young people and politicians should focus on giving youths jobs.

The MP challenged youths to support leaders who they think will address their challenges. He also advised university students seeking leadership to shun tribal activities and utterances that would disrupt their education.

There have been allegations of external funding to university students seeking leadership for propagation of political interests.
