Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has asked politicians in Uasin Gishu County to stop meddling and interfering with the affairs and running of institutions of higher learning.

Speaking to reporters in Eldoret Town on Thursday, Sudi told politicians to desist from interfering in the running of universities.

Sudi said that interference by politicians in running of education institutions will hinder education standards.

The MP wondered why politicians would want to interfere and sabotage learning saying that universities should be left on their own.

“Political leaders should keep off universities and colleges and concentrate on their work,” he said.

The MP said the county risks lagging behind on education if politicians will continue interfering in administration of universities and colleges.

The legislator urged the national government to intervene and address wrangles that are being witnessed in some universities in the county.

He said the national government controls the education docket and that it must find solutions to the wrangles.
