Boda boda operators in Bonchari constituency Kisii County on Monday marched to the Sub county offices to protest about the poor status of roads in their area.

Led by Darius Birundu, the operators said that most of the roads from the Suneka airstrip to the town were impassable and hence hampering transportation of goods and passengers.

"Our leaders have neglected this area for a long time. they only come to promise repairs during campaign periods but never they never fulfill them," he said.

Birundu said that the ongoing rains have made the roads slippery and dangerous to users since vehicles and motorbikes keep on skidding.

"The short rains have transport difficult, we want changes made before the long rains. we are tired of lame excuses from leaders," he added.

Bonchari Member of Parliament Zebedeo Opore was accused of neglecting them.

"He says it is the responsibility of the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) to repair the roads," one of the riders said.

The MP, could however not be reached on phone for comment.
