A day after a group of protestors stormed into Abamuko Secondary School and paralysed learning activities, teachers have distanced themselves from the incident.

Masaba North Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) branch secretary general, Meshack Ombong'i said the union members have not caused mayhem in any school throughout the strike saying they have instead opted to stay away from institutions.

He urged area police to investigate the incident and take action against those who were involved in the incident.

“I am not aware of any demos or vandalism from our members at any school. All our members are at home waiting for the matter to be resolved by those above us. We have only been holding prayers and the police should investigate the incident and punish those found culpable,” he said.

He condemned the incident that saw a number of teachers who were found in school reportedly injured for disobeying the call for a national strike.

“The incident was inhuman and no one should support such hooliganism. We appeal to the institution’s management and the general public to allow the police to do their job perfectly,” he added.
