Maendeleo ya Wanawake chairlady in Matungulu sub-county, Victoria Mulalya has urged youths to seek business opportunities locally instead of going overseas.
Speaking in Nguluni town, Mulalya said there are many untapped opportunities in Kenya, too.
She said many youths go overseas for greener pastures only for them to come back frustrated after failing, or facing hostility in the foreign countries.
She also encouraged parents to be good role models to their children, noting that they have the ability to perform only if they are adequately trained.
“Many youths get excited when going abroad to look for jobs and then come back frustrated after undergoing maltreatment when they could have bettered themselves here in their country,” she added.
“Our children need good leadership and training and we parents should train them accordingly since in the near future our efforts will not be in vain since it will all be for the good of the country,” said Mulalya
She also advised residents to keenly monitor the use of county resources to ensure they are used for their intended purposes and stem graft.
Mulalya urged the local government to involve her organisation in county matters.
