Thika residents have been sensitised on Nyumba Kumi and community policing in a move to improve security in the area.
The education is meant to ensure the public is involved in security matters.
Speaking on Wednesday at Kari grounds, the security team chairman Jeremiah Gicheru, said the initiative is set to assist the security officers build a rapport with the public.
He said this would ensure that the police get tips from members of the public whenever there are insecurity cases.
The residents adhered to the call and turned up for the security meeting in large numbers.
The area residents were educated on how to deal with insecurity incidences in the absence of police officers.
Gicheru lauded the public for attending the meeting that was fully sponsored by the county government saying that there is need to involve everyone in security matters to make it easier to curb crime.
Governor William Kabogo, through a message read to the public by the county chief of staff, said that he has set strategies to ensure patrols are enhanced in the entire county to beef up security in the area.
He added that the recently purchased land rovers are meant to sustain the police and the administrators who are working closely with the officers in their patrols.
He said that he will not allow the security of the county to be compromised by either internal or external forces.
