Three people perished on Friday in an accident on Garissa Road after the lorry they were travelling in was involved in an accident.

The lorry is said to have been returning from delivering goods at Madaraka Market in Makongeni, Thika sub-county heading to the Machakos county side when the driver lost control and it crashed overturning past Kilimambogo Teachers' Training College.

Matuu traffic police deputy commander Mr Bernard Ochada confirmed that all the three people in the vehicle died instantly.

“The lorry developed brakes trouble thereby losing control and overturning killing the driver and two other people on the spot," Ochada said.

The officer told the press from his office that they have retrieved the wreckage and taken it to Matuu Police Station. He warned motorists using the Garissa Road to driver cautiously as the road has been claiming numerous lives.

"It was a bad one. With the help of the public we have towed the vehicle wreckage to the Matuu Police Station," he added.

The bodies of the deceased were removed to Matuu Level Four Hospital Funeral Home.
