Three people were on Tuesday arraigned before a Kisumu court charged with brewing and selling illicit brew.
Te suspects George Munialo, Greg Obongo and Tabitha Okech denied the charges before chief magistrate Esther Maina for the offence allegedly committed on September 17, this year in Obunga slums, Kisumu County.
They also faced a second count of conducting business without a permit.
According to the prosecution, the three were arrested as a result of the ongoing crack down on illicit brews.
During the arrest, the court heard, more than 1,000liters of illicit liqour were destroyed, and brewing equipment confiscated.
The prosecution asked the court to remand them as they are likely to return to the illegal business.
However, Maina declined to grant the prosecution request saying the reason given was not sufficient enough.
They were each released on Sh10,000 cash bail each with surety of a similar amount pending hearing on November 14.
