Gatundu South deputy sub-county commissioner, Stephen Kihara has disclosed that 12 people have been arrested in the ongoing campaign against drug abuse.

Kihara made the announcement to the press at his office in Gatundu South. He reiterated that the fight against drug abuse will continue until the menace is contained.

“We have arrested 12 drug suspects in the ongoing crack down on drug abuse and we are not going back till we eradicate this menace,” said Kihara.

Kihara expressed concern that drug peddlers were selling drugs to school-going children and said stern action would be taken against those found engaging in the illegal trade.

He called on residents to support the government in the campaign to make it successful.

“Residents have a responsibility to work with the government in ending this outlawed trade,” said Kihara.

He also refuted the allegations that his office is involved in issuance of liquor permit.

“There some people going around that my office is issuing liquor permits .This is not correct as the operations of liquor permits are under county government of Kiambu,” said Kihara.

He warned residents to report those asking them money to facilitate the issuance of liquor permits.

“Some bar owners have been conned by fraudsters and I urge bar owners to be vigilant,” said Kihara.

Kihara said that the 12 suspect will be arraigned in court to answer charges of being in possession in drugs.
