Uasin Gishu County Assembly speaker Isaac Terer has warned youths in the county against being used to cause violence and disorder.

Addressing journalists at the county offices on Friday, Terer complained that many youths are being lured into violence and crime mostly by politicians and prominent business people.

“It is saddening that some prominent people are using our youths for wrong reasons like violence and crime,” he said.

The speaker asked the police to investigate and take action against those using youths to cause violence.

Terer said that lack of jobs has exposed youths to all manner of evil.

He said that is nothing is done urgently then the county could lose its youths to crime.

He also said that many youths have been trapped in social evils like drug abuse and prostitution.

The Uasin Gishu speaker called on both the county and the national government to fast-track income generating projects that will keep the youth engaged.
