President Uhuru Kenyatta has told Education CS Jacob Kaimenyi to crack the whip on all unregistered tertiary education institutions in the country to ensure highest quality education for Kenyans.

Speaking when he officially opened Zetech University in Ruiru, the President said that there are colleges and working without consent from the ministry of education and they should be barred from registering any students.

President Uhuru added that institutions that operate under tribal or religious grounds should also be ignored saying the people of Kenya do not discriminate against other citizens anymore.

“Kenyans are nowadays united and those trying to divide them on political, religious or tribal grounds do not qualify to be living among us. We are one people and our children should be taught anywhere they want to learn from,” Uhuru said.

He was responding to question on how the government was dealing with the issue of increased number of private colleges and universities which are alleged to be after the people’s money while offering substandard education.

The president further called on the students to keep focus on their studies and build their future without inconveniencing their parents.

He was accompanied by 17 MPs led by Aden Duale, Senators led by Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Education CS Kaimenyi, among other leaders.
