Political leaders from Ukambani counties have been urged to respect Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, by operating according to the party's ideologies.
Speaking to journalists in Athi River Town on Tuesday, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior claimed some of the leaders from Machakos, Makueni and Kitui Counties had shown disrespect to the party leader.
"All leaders from Ukambani whether Machakos, Makueni or Kitui Counties should respect the party leader by trading according to ideologies of the party," said Kilonzo.
Kilonzo said the region was still predominantly Wiper and warned those going against its leadership that they were trading on dangerous ground.
He reminded leaders opposed to the party leader that they were elected on the Wiper party ticket and therefore had no alternative but to respect Musyoka if they wanted to remain politically relevant.
The senator urged the leaders to support and protect the party leader at all times instead of joining camps of individuals who kept criticising him for not working with the national government that was formed by the Jubilee coalition.
"If you want Kalonzo to contest with Raila and Wetangula for CORD's 2017 presidential candidature, you need to support him instead of the critics," said Kilonzo.
