Uasin Gishu government in partnership with Samaritan Purse, a US based organisation plan to roll out a poverty alleviation programme to uplift residents’ living standards.
Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said the organisation will target areas such as Munyaka, Langans and Huruma among others.
"Plans are underway and soon the programme will be rolled out in slums. The projects include electrification, water supply and houses upgrade,” he said.
He added that the Samaritan Purse will also offer medical services to slum dwellers.
"The organisation has more than 400 medical practitioners who will offer services free of charge to the residents," he added.
He also revealed that the organisation has also build a Sh270 million store at the Eldoret International Airport which it will use to keep the food it will donate to the slum residents.
The deputy governor was speaking in his office on Friday when the group members paid him a courtesy call.
