A second year student studying Business Economics in Maseno University has put into practice the skills she has acquired during her two-year of study.

Mary Njeri has established a station famously known by comrades as 'Choma zone' close to hostels where she sells boiled eggs, samosas and sausages.

Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, Njeri revealed that she makes at least Sh500 on a tough day, but on a good day like weekends she hits Sh1,000 a day.

“My main customers are my fellow comrades, they have been of much help because without them I would not be able to run the business and with this I can fend for my needs at school,” said Njeri.

Joseph Bett, one of her customers is pleased with the bold move saying Njeri has saved them both time and energy of having to walk to the main gate to find this necessities a distance of 400 metres.

“I don’t have to walk all the way to the market place to find these necessities since Njeri avails them at our door step,” said Bett.

“I face a number of challenges such as finding quality time to run the business since my main objective of being here is to attend my classes and at times I have classes up to 6pm which makes it unreliable to my customers. Finding a permanent structure to run the business has also been a problem especially with the onset of the rains," said Njeri.

However, Njeri has a plan of erecting a permanent structure by next year to encounter some of the challenges she face in her business.
