Kiambu County Sports and Youths Affair CeC, Michael Waikenda has called on the national Government to probe the incident that led to the loss of 25 billion shillings at the Kenya Airways Company.
He said that Kenyans need to know what the Kenyan Airways management has done over the years to forestall such an occurrence.
Speaking in Thika town on Wednesday the CeC said that national government must critically examine whether there was commission or omission on the part of the management leading to such a huge loss.
“We need to know what the Kenyan Airways management has done over the years to forestall such an occurrence. Even more critically, we must examine whether there was commission or omission on the part of the management leading to such a huge loss,” said Waikenda.
Waikenda said that someone must take responsibility for this loss over the last year even if it means sending the entire management packing just to get the full details of what happened to our Kenya airline.
He said that lack of tourism cannot result to such a big loss but its due to poor management that resulted to such an occurrence calling on the Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet to probe the issue.
Waikenda recommended that the airline should come up with ways of not only bringing down its ticket prices both locally and regionally but also increasing its routing within the continent.
He said that it is disturbing that Kenyans would rather fly South Africa Airways or Ethiopian Airlines to continental destinations than fly Kenya Airways due to high prices.
