Kiambu County Youth Affairs CeC Machel Wakienda has urged parents to take up their role of instilling good morals in their children.
Addressing residents in Kiambu Town on Wednesday, Wakienda said parents play key roles in shaping the destiny of their children by spending time with them.
“Parents should guide their children to be respectable members of society by engaging them in discussions to know what they need,” said Wakienda.
Wakienda urged parents to guide their children in the right direction to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities.
He noted that most children spend their time in cyber cafes, saying that there is a high risk of being recruited by terrorism sites.
“During this August holiday many youth spend most of their time in cyber cafes watching pornographic content and they risk being recruited by terrorism sites,” said Wakienda.
Wakienda however urged youth to use the internet wisely by doing academic research in a bid to acquire academic skills.
