Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has called on political leaders across the political divide to exercise tolerance and desist from making statements that would cause disunity among Kenyans.
Speaking during the Mashujaa day celebrations at Ndumberi grounds on Tuesday, Wamatangi took issue with some leaders who he accused of using words and statements that are tribal.
The senator said that the country is likely to experience tension if some leaders continue with what he termed as ‘careless’ talk.
“It is unfortunate that some leaders instead of spearheading unity and cohesion are busy spreading inflammatory remarks,” he said.
The Kiambu senator observed that the country will not achieve its development agenda if leaders are busy trading accusations and abusing each other.
Wamatangi urged politicians to set good examples that Kenyans can emulate.
“We as elected leaders have the responsibility to set good examples for others to emulate,” said Wamatangi.
The senate law maker urged leaders to use the remaining time to work for Kenyans by spearheading development before the 2017 general election.
Wamatangi also called on Kiambu leaders to shelve their differences and work on an agenda that will promote development.
