The North Rift Boda Boda and Taxis Association Chairman Richard Mukhobero has refuted claims by Uasin Gishu County government officials that motorbikes are the main cause of accidents in Eldoret CBD.
Speaking in his office on Wednesday, Mukhobero said that motorcyclists are law abiding citizens, and pointed a blaming finger on the county officials for signing in unqualified individuals.
“Leaders in the county government are the ones to blame for the accidents that are reported daily since they bring un qualified motorcyclist from their villages with no experience and not conversant with traffic rules,” he said.
“Due to their ignorance, they cause unwanted accidents, and as the chairman, I usually make sure that all my motorcyclists undergo thorough training and are in possession of valid licenses,” he added.
He reiterated that it is mandatory for his motorcyclists to have a driving licence, two helmets and reflector jackets, and urged the county government and well-wishers to help them in training motorcyclist and pedestrians to be conversant with the government and county by laws.
