Mlolongo Assistant Commissioner Obed Mose wants all parastatals and government owned companies privatised to make them more efficient and profitable.
Mose argued that most of the companies and parastatals were performing poorly due to lack of independence in their management.
"I have been wondering why most of the high profiled government parastatals such as Kenya Airways, East African Portland Cement Company and the Kenya Meat Commission register huge loses. I feel that they should all be privatised to make them profitable," said the commissioner.
Mose who spoke to Hivisasa.com at his offices on Thursday claimed that most of such companies are victims of external influences from their superiors in the government hence the loss making.
According to the commissioner, it is not easy for junior officers to turn down directives from their seniors who at times give orders aimed at satisfying their personal interests.
He noted that if the institutions are privatised, the levels of corruption would go down since professionals will then have an opportunity to effectively and efficiently run and manage them.
He claimed that corruption among senior officers in the national government with links and powers in parastatals was a draw back to the institutions’ growth thereby making them liabilities to citizens who pay hefty taxes to both national and county governments.
