A row is brewing between the National Campaign against Drug Abuse (Nacada) boss John Mututho and Nakuru County Kenya Bureau of Statistics (Kebs) officials after the Nacada boss questioned the manner in which licenses were being issued in the area.

Speaking yesterday in Nakuru’s Bahati area after overseeing an operation against illicit brew, Mututho accused Nakuru County Health officials and Kebs officers of issuing licences to bogus companies.

“Some Health officers and Kebs officials in this County should be behind bars as we speak. I will ensure they are arrested,” he cautioned.

“In process of the operation, it has come to our attention that some premises have fake licences in their possession, somebody needs to take responsibility of this,” fumed Mututho.

According to him, some officers were taking advantage of unsuspecting businessmen to defraud them by issuing fake operating documents.

He further questioned the eligibility of such officials arguing that “why give a license to a factory manufacturing poisonous products?”

The whole Nacada board under his leadership was tasked by the President to oversee and ensure the illegal brew menace in the country as a whole come to an end.

A report about Nyeri County is expected to be tabled by the end of this week with other counties following suit.
