20 medical doctors in Nakuru county have been suspended over the ongoing strike involving doctors and nurses in the county.
In a letter by the County Ministry of Health dated August 19. The suspension comes shortly after reports indicated that the doctor were still on strike despite an agreement with the county government stating that the doctors demands would be met.
However most of the departments at the Nakuru’s PGH hospital are reported to have been operating smoothly since the strike was called off. However the hardly hit unit was the surgical units as no operations have been going on.
The letter that was released on Wednesday and signed by the signed by Chief Officer Health, Dr Stephen Mwaura also warned that medics who failed to report to work by 7:30pm would be dismissed unconditionally since they were violating the law.
The ministry has also said that it cannot allow the workers to continue striking yet compated to other counties Nakuru is at the advanced stage of implementing the doctor’s promotion directive
We can only wait to see if this new development will bring solution to the wrangles that have been there for the last two weeks between the medical practitioners and the county government.
