A 20-year-old man from Maseno on Tuesday appeared before a Maseno Resident Magistrate facing charges of allegedly raping his ten year old sister.

The accused, Stephen Mukombe who resides in Ekatso village, Maseno, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Philip Oilo.

According to the Prosecution Desk, in May 3, 2015 the complainants aunt left the accused's two younger sisters in his custody.

The court heard that on the material day at around 7am, the accused summoned the complainant into his bedroom, leaving his other sister outside, forced her to lie down on the bed.

Further allegations are that the accused forcibly had sexual intercourse with the victim. The court also heard that the complainants sister then entered the bedroom and saw the accused putting on his trousers.

The matter came to light when the complainant narrated the story to her aunt when she came back that evening. The matter was reported to Police after the complainant was taken to hospital leading to the arrest of Mukombe a day later.

Magistrate Oilo remanded the accused until next week Thursday. The Prosecution Desk was ordered to produce the complainant's birth certificate in court during the next hearing to verify her age.
