Residents of Borabu Constituency are set to benefit from increased police presence if the government decides to set up a police post in a piece of land donated by a renowned academician for that purpose.
Through Mwongori chief David Ogega on Thursday, Dr Nyadoro Kambi donated the land saying it was upon the request of area residents who feel the number of security personnel in the region are few allowing cattle rustlers to execute crimes with impunity.
Ogega said measures were in place to commence a land succession process at Nyamira Lands Office before his office submits the documents to the Ministry of Interior.
“Today that your son Dr Kambi has offered the 2 hectares of land in Mwongori and he has directed me to work with him to ensure we get the proper documentation for the same. Once the process is over, I will surrender them to the ministry with your request of a police post for action,” the chief said.
He said deployment of more security personnel in the region would also enable residents become more closer to police and give them information that could help bring an end to cattle rustling.
“As much as the region could have a police post, we want to encourage residents to help us with intelligence so that we can deal with this issue once and for all. We live with those criminals in the society and we can help the police do a good job,” Ogega added.
