The case against a Maseno University student was adjourned to October 20th after the Court prosecutor Elvis Ochieng filed for the adjournment. The prosecutor told the presiding Magistrate, Cathy Wasilwa that the file had gaps that needed to be filled before proceeding to hearing. Raphael Michael, a third year Bachelor of Medical laboratory student was arrested in May for allegedly assaulting the Dean of Students Edward Olela at Maseno market.

The hearing which was to take place on Monday at 2pm was adjourned to October to allow for thorough investigations. The accused, Raphael however ,did not have a lawyer while the Dean of Students was represented by the Maseno University Head of Security, Peter Wandeyi. The prosecutor asked the two parties to resolve the matter out court before hearing but the Medical laboratory student argued that the institution would 'deny' him justice.

"I have faith and confidence that the courts would grant me justice as I am sure that Maseno University would be biased towards my case,"said Raphael. He also argued that since the Dean of Students had taken the matter to court, then the courts should be allowed to handle the matter.
