Athi River administration police commandant Stephen Matu has said security agents in the area will enhance security in the region.
Addressing journalists at his office in Athi River Town on Thursday, Matu said the residents had no cause for alarm since their safety and that of their property were assured.
Matu said the security apparatus understand well their mandate to offer protection to locals in each and every part of the sub-county.
He cautioned residents in the region against engaging in criminal activities and infringing on the constitutional rights of others.
According to Matu, all Kenyans need to enjoy their constitutional rights and be treated equally as long as they equally respect the rights of their fellows.
“There is no way those who violate rights of others especially criminals. expect to be treated equally as law abiding patriots,” said Matu.
He said that the law would catch up with all criminals in the region regardless of the nature of crime they are found engaging in.
The commandant cautioned youth especially bodaboda operators in the region against being used in breaching peace by a click of individuals with personal interests.
Matu said all residents should learn how to work hard and live on legitimate livelihoods instead of engaging in illicit activities and businesses.
