Avocado farmers in Nyamira County have a reason to smile as demand for their products surges.
According to farmers interviewed in various locations in the county, for the last few months they have been receiving orders from other counties, with customers willing to offer 'good money' for the avocados.
According to Mr Victor Momanyi, who has over 50 avocado trees in his farm, the business is booming and in a week he can be able to supply about 10 sacks of avocados, but still, he is unable to satisfy the market demand.
"The business has been growing and i am happy with the returns," said Momanyi.
He called upon the area farmers to venture into the business so that they can be able to get extra income and also satisfy the growing market.
Victor also said they sell their avocados to end consumers, Kisii Avocado Factory and also to other businessmen who export to other countries.
He urged farmers who are yet to delve into the venture not to hesitate, assuring them of huge benefits.
Another avocado farmer, Mr Daniel Meroka, called upon the county government to connect the farmers to avocado farming experts to boost their produces.
