Kisii county residents have been advised to be aware of pneumonia and know how to protect themselves during El Nino season.

Kisii county community clinical officer Kepha King’oina said that during El Nino, there are more cases of Pneumonia which need to be addressed.

Speaking on Sunday at Omosocho area in Kisii county, Mr King'oina said that it is important for residents to be sensitised about the diseases that affect them so that they can have to know how to protect themselves.

“As the Ministry of Health, it is important to protect residents by sensitising them about the diseases that affect them so that they can be aware and know how to overcome them,” said Mr King’oina.

He added that most families are affected by such diseases because of lack of knowledge supposed to be given through the Ministry of Health.

He has appealed to the county government through to ensure that measures are in place to avert health disasters during the anticipated heavy rains.

He advised parents to dress their children with warm clothes during the rains to keep pneumonia away.

“Parents, make sure that your children are 'well equipped' even when they are going to school," he added.
