The residents led by the area assistant chief Mr Vincent Omanwa claimed that the Member of Parliament had neglected the project for a very long time even after Kenya Power rolled out the rural electrification programme at subsidised rates.

The residents also claimed that Tong'i has been commissioning electricity projects in other parts of the constituency, assuming Bobaracho area.

“Other electricity projects initiated years after ours have been completed. We are wondering what might be wrong with this project. We also need electricity for our businesses and in our homes,” said Omanwa.

The residents called on the legislator to hasten the electrification of the region noting that it was not the first time they are raising the matter.

The residents said that their dreams to set up businesses in the area to improve their lives have been put on hold due to lack of electricity in the sub location.

They vowed to hold demonstrations if no action is taken immediately to ensure the area is electrified.
